Performance study of maximum likelihood receivers and transversal filters for the detection of direct sequence spread spectrum signal in narrowband interference

چکیده
Linear least squares estimation techniques can be used to enhance suppression of narrowband interference in direct-sequence spread-spectrum systems. Nonlinear techniques for this purpose have also been investigated recently. Here, we derive maximum-llkelihood receivers for direct-sequence Signal in Gaussian interference with known second order characteristics. It is shown that if the receiver uses samples from outside the bit interval, then the receiver structure (called ML I1 )is nonlinear. The bit error rate performances of these ML receivers are compared to those of linear receivers employing one-sided and two-sided least squares estimation filters, for the case of Gaussian autoregressive interference, It is shown that the ML II receiver outperforms the matched filter, the one sided and the two sided transversal fflters.

Volterra Filter Application in Ds-ss Receiver for Narrowband Interference Suppresion
The direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) transmission system offers a promising solution to an overcrowded frequency spectrum amid growing demand for mobile and personal communication services. The overlay of DS-SS signals on existing narrowband users implies strong interference for DS-SS systems. In this paper, it will be shown how the application of linear and non-linear estimators in the ...
متن کاملAdaptive Signal Detection in Auto-Regressive Interference with Gaussian Spectrum
A detector for the case of a radar target with known Doppler and unknown complex amplitude in complex Gaussian noise with unknown parameters has been derived. The detector assumes that the noise is an Auto-Regressive (AR) process with Gaussian autocorrelation function which is a suitable model for ground clutter in most scenarios involving airborne radars. The detector estimates the unknown...
متن کاملOptimum decoder for multiplicative spread spectrum image watermarking with Laplacian modeling
This paper investigates the multiplicative spread spectrum watermarking method for the image. The information bit is spreaded into middle-frequency Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficients of each block of an image using a generated pseudo-random sequence. Unlike the conventional signal modeling, we suppose that both signal and noise are distributed with Laplacian distribution, because the ...
متن کاملPerformance of Direct-Sequence Spread-Spectrum Receiver Using Decision Feedback and Transversal Filters for Combatting Narrowband Interference
Direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) receiver using both decision feedback (DFB) and twosided transversal filters for combatting narrowband interference (NBI) is proposed. The receiver is made up of two branches. In the first branch, the conventional demodulator is followed by a DFB filter, while in the second auxiliary branch, a demodulator with the carrier in quadrature is followed by a two...
متن کاملA Novel Interference Rejection Method for GPS Receivers
This paper proposes a new method for rejecting the Continuous Wave Interferences (CWI) in the Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. The proposed filter is made by cascading an adaptive Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter and a Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) based filter. Although adaptive FIR filters are easy to implement and have a linear phase, they create self-noise in the rejection of...
